I have been trying to tidy up out ppt a little, tie in each page a little more was trying to get the diagram the same orange as the other page but for some reason can get it the same, just thought it would look a little neater using the same colours. Hi Girls, I'll take a look at the powerpoint presentation now and see where I can contribute. Have you girls started on the learning activity as I read a great paper on nutrition for one of my other assessments and we may be able to incorporate it somehow (without plagiarising). I'll stay up for another hour and try to get something down tonight. Would you believe I've been working my bum off for EDME369 which the assessment was due tonight and at 4pm this arvo our Lecturer has posted that everyone has a one week extension.... Well of course I didn't see it till 10pm so my assessment is completed. I'm annoyed cause I've worked hard on it all week but could have prioritised this one before it if I knew she was going to give extensions willy nilly. So frustrating when mine is ready to submit. 12.28am - Soooo tired! Hey All, The powerpoint presentation looks great. I just made a few changes myself with getting the orange colour the same and prettying up one of the graphs. I have added a little info on the resources page and also the evaluation page. Will put more thought into it when I get some sleep. Will touch base in the morning. Will save this as Updated Powerpoint Presentation 6/8/2012. I'll delete all the other copies so there is no confusion. The websites on the presentation are coming up white - thinking these should be a darker colour so we can see them. I tried changing but it didn't work for me. Hi Tanya, I started freaking out thinking I'd done something wrong. I could open it on my end on my work computer so I have resaved and have attached again. I didn't do anything different from any other time so wondering why this happened. Sorry for the trouble. If I find resources today do you want me to add them here on this page or do you want me to update the powerpoint presentation. Hi Everyone, Sorry it's taken a bit to reply. Georgie's internet is currently playing up. We are going to work on the procedure slide a bit more today and we need to complete the program. Then we are done. The only other things that will be left to do are the: - resources page - COMPLETED - presentation just needs update with websites above - referencing list - evaluation - transcript and audio. I have not heard from Melina in a while. I'm hoping that she comes back online soon as we could really use the extra help at the moment. Georgie how is EDEE 212 coming along I am finding it hard with the cues and trying to expand it enough to get close to the 1000words.
I tried to have a look at the audio to see how it is done, on the mac I think it was as easy as hitting record, cant find it on windows, I think the only way I can do it is to record it elsewhere and import it into the ppt. But if Melina could do it, it would be great. and I will keep working with Tammy finishing off the rest. If not will try again tomorrow with the audio or tonight if we don't hear from her soon.
Great idea with the vege garden. I know the school definitely don't have one. It's an activity that can be incorporated into all Years K-6. The audio is easy with powerpoint as you just record on the mac through powerpoint. Problem was that it recorded fantastic but made the file far too large to save. Will email Melina now and see if she can touch base so we can organise audio. Tanya, I'll keep thinking of ideas too for the evaluation... I think that maybe we should try cutting down the resources. I am just worried that there are too many.. I have seen some other groups and they have tended to focus on one or two. I also believe that Annette stated we should attempt to do less if possible.
Here's a quick summary of what they talked about in the lecture today for the evaluation. You basically just list some of the barriers/limitations. And in the audio you can pose some questions. Just use bullet points for the powerpoint slide.

I'm just going to add the resources into the presentation, will pick the more important ones and quickly re-do the websites in references. I just looked at the instructions about the resources and it says to concentrate on one in the audio. I think we can list a few on the presentation though. Resources and References will be completed unless there is a quick last minute reference that needs to be thrown in. I'll try to work the transcript out for the resources section now. We need to work on the transcripts for the other slides though. I'm not 100% with the 4P. Jess, do you think you and Georgie may be able to throw something together with the transcripts as you guys have a much better idea on what it all means. If this is too much work, please let me know. Tanya and I can try to put the transcript together for the school policy - is this something that is just briefly touched on in the transcript or do we just read from what the policy states. A little confused. Can you clarify Jess or Georgie if you know any details from the Lectures in regards to the transcript for the 4Ps. The tutti fruity lesson activity won't load for some reason but I think the vege garden is a great idea. I know Penrith South definitely don't have one.
Hi Everyone! SO sorry! I have not had internet since last night but I am now back on the air! So much to read out and take in haha but yes Jess and I will work on the 4 P's there shouldn't be too much to do once we knuckle down! This is the latest on Annette's conversation regarding Melina. I have replied saying that I will consult with the rest of the group. The problem is that it doesn't really make a difference to us at the moment. We are still going to have to pump this assignment out together regardless. I don't want to be the horrible one that is causing problems, it's just that two weeks without contact when there is a major assignment due isn't exactly fair. Let me know what you think.

from your group. I do not believe that reading someone else's carefully
constructed commentary constitutes a contribution to this assignment.

Hi Jess,
It's so disappointing that Melina hasn't contributed much to the assessment. I understand she is on prac from 20th July (from previous posts) so she is probably quite busy. Problem is for all of us, is that our lives are chaos as well with other uni committments, work, children, husbands etc and we seem to manage to put our fair share into the workload (if another person tells me I look tired, I'm going to scream). The thing is, we all take on uni knowing the busy schedule it will have on our lives and part of being a great teacher is to balance everything all at once. I don't want to be responsible for Melina being un-enrolled from our group but you're right Jess, it's been two weeks since contact and prior to that we only received 1 message each week apart from the focus area. I'm hoping she touches base tonight or tomorrow and we can ask her to contribute more to Part B like Annette has requested. I'd be interested in hearing what others feel. Group work can be such a hard activity and in other units that group work has been involved, it has never been equal sharing of the workload. Melina seemed keen in the beginning of this assessment, I'm surprised she hasn't made contact with only two days till submit time. Cheers, Tammy

Slowly getting there Tanya! The last transcripts that I wrote were really long in the last powerpoint and the audio is only meant to 12-15 minutes so these transcripts I have done are not very long at all, hopefully it will even out! When I recorded my voice on the context slide it ended up about 2-3 minutes. We'll probably have to play around with it when it's being recorded to ensure we're in the minutes needed. It'll take a bit of time to get the effects in the right place.Tanya, I didn't put all our resources in after Jess wrote about the lecture details where it needed to be more specific. Do you have a mac computer as well tammy? I couldn't find the audio record on the powerpoint and I only just found the notes the other day, mac looks a lot easier than windows. For the audio I decided to write up about the halthy kids one for info and trying to find another that has good teaching resources and ideas. but keeping it short and to the point. Tammy that would be awesome if we only had to do two, make the work load a lot less. tanya

Hi Girls, I just opened the powerpoint presentation and the outcomes page opened along with syllabus info etc. I won't need the presentation tonight and will stay off it tomorrow morning too so you guys can upload the info... Thanks again for working on this. Tanya, thanks for sorting out the transcript for the resource page too. Melina, it takes more than just touching base with a small note to be a group member. We have worked so hard on this presentation with a million other better things that we could be doing. I'm sorry to be direct but I am struggling to keep on top of everything myself, especially having a young family of three boys and working but I have in no form let our team down. It's probably advisable to arrange your pracs at a more suitable time where you are able to contribute to assessments when necessary. I have done this myself so my pracs did not run into the most crucial time of assessments. This presentation is worth 30% of our overall mark and your contribution would have come in very handy for Jess, Georgie, Tanya and myself to have a little more time for our other assessments. We have definitely carried you in this assessment, to date. The audio will need to be added to the presentation. This will have to be done by tomorrow afternoon so we have time to coordinate the effects etc in the slides to match the audio. However, in previous emails Annette has stated that simply reading out the work that we have done isn't sufficient. She has listed about what will be necessary for you to complete for the next section. I'm sorry if I am coming off as sounding rude, but the last contact we had from you was two weeks ago when you stated that you had a lot of free time. To be sure that we honour the work contributed by all other members, could I please ask that a member of the group submit your PPT presentation to the PRESENTATION LIBRARY as soon as possible. Be sure to follow all instructions provided to put it in the library. I appreciate that the presentation will not include the audio but it will provide documentary evidence of the date and time when the group submitted their contributions and Melina had access to the PPT to do and complete the audio. This will protect everyone concerned as long as you give her as many hours as possible to complete her role.

Hi Tammy looking good. Just moved the section under audio into the notes and tidied up the page my brain is fried and cant come up with any more for the evaluation, but will keep thinking on it. I am thinking the audio under the 3rd slide can be read through the first 3 as they all relate to it, may help spread it out a little. I am currently in the middle of my practical placement and have been struggling with balancing this alongside my regular uni work and family commitments. I also got my due dates confused and thought we had another week before submission. This is no excuse for not contacting my group. I do intent to assist my group in finishing our presentation and the rest of the group work requirements for this unit and I do intend to complete this unit during this current study period.

Fantastic, so happy to have another huge assessment done. I have been so busy as they all fell within 2 weeks of each other. I have my EDLT217 due this Fri and just seeked an extension as I just don't have it in me to complete in two days. Been a very crazy few weeks. I'm a bit confused cause Annette has asked us to submit without the audio for Melina to record the audio but Melina is able to access this from wiki. We probably should submit it, like Annette has asked.
The English unit your doing I completed last year. We had 6 children that we had to assess in reading recovery by listening to them read. Recording the omitted words, repeats etc then writing a summary of what the problems are and how to help them. I found the whole thing confusing but spent some time at my sons school with the reading recovery teacher and learned more from her than the unit itself. It helped me through the assessments.
Just read Melinas email. The presentation is as good as complete apart from the audio. Her contact last night was not to help us as she didn't return to wiki. Soooo frustrating. When is she planning to help us considering there is less than two days till we submit.
Tammy, I couldn't agree with you more on your last point. I will email Annette back saying we are more than happy for her to be a group member but state that she has not replied and make sure she understands that she has complete access to the wiki site! Also, we have seen some other power points and ours is looking good in comparison. THey are all different as everyone has a different topic etc. But i think we are on the right track! Slide 5 is not working, it looks like the same problem as what happened last night. Also, with that slide. Could someone pretty please un highlight the energy output text box. It is not meant to be highlighted as the focus is meant to be on how nutrition directly relates to health and obesity. Not physical activity. I think we may need to pretty up the evaluation slide. Other than that.. all looks wonderful! I have sent an email back to annette informing her that there still has been no contact. She will try to get onto melina and tell her that she needs to do the audio today and look at our wiki.

Just had a look at the slide, looking great! The same problem has happened last time with slide 5 areas that lead to children weights problems and it wont open? Not sure who is able to fix that?
Also just with the evaluation slide, from what I got from the lecture I think its the limitations that will stop you reaching your aim. So for the bit about the media promoting nutirtious foods, should it say promoting junk foods? I'm also a little confused with this sentence in the evaluation

I wrote the sentence was a little unsure so I will remove it tonight, have uploaded it again file again hopefully will work now. Have to pick up a child from pre school and 2 of them have after school sport training. I can hardly stay awake but will be back on line tonight so will fix up that slide. and if Melina hasn't turned up will look at the audio, I think we need to put in despite what Annette has said.
Anyone got a spare 200 words need it for my miscue analysis. We have done 3 already but only 75 to 100 words so from having trouble shortening it now I am having problems getting to go the length of 1000 words. but getting there hoping to have them both submitted so I can sleep on Friday, or not with the kids. oh well/ Tanya

I've just fixed up those things mentioned by Jess and Georgie. I've redone the evaluation slide to be a flow chart. Think it looks better now. I think it's tiredness setting in for me too. Have deleted all other presentations but the latest.

Hi back home, just trying to cook dinner, bath kids and homework. so I will try to check in to see if I can do anything. Melina It took me along time before I stumbled onto them as well. The slide and reading I believe needs to be about 12 to 15 minutes. I was thinking the first notes would incorporate the first three slides as the beginning of it talks about the demographics so would fit in with the pic of school and the first slide. I think it will go close to 15mins so we cant add to much more audio than what we have.
Oh just had a thought, I haven't had a chance to fix the evaluation slide - that is the sentence and tidy up. Also had been thinking more about the resources, There is a better website to talk about as it has a section on parent and school partnership for nutrition which would tie in better with the other slides. Can I change it or not now that it is in the presentation folder.

Hi girls, although you have submitted the audio less copy onto moodle if you need to make some changes do so and just add the latest version onto the wiki and i'll record the audio into that so the changes will be on the final copy submitted. If you could have that done by 9pm tonight that would be brilliant. I've had a read through of the transcript timing myself and it came to about 13 1/2 minutes. I will probably talk a little slower for the real thing but there is some room to add something in audio wise if you would like. Keep me posted. Ta, Melina
Hi Melina, I think a small introduction would be nice for slide 1 and maybe something brief for slide 2. Great timing with the 13.5 minutes. It would be great if the presentation audio is done tonight and we can all submit in the morning - one less assessment to worry about. If you have a mac, it was fairly easy to record. I think the discussions had some advice on audio too but will keep online tonight and touch base later on.

On the resource one I changed one of the website that was going into the audio to another one as it hsd information about parent and school partnership thought it would tie in better. I have written very little on it just a brief mention of two websites. Was worried that we were going to go over the time by a long way.
Fingers crossed we are done except for audio, I am exhausted need some sleep and need to finalise my other assignment. Don't like waiting to the last minute in case the kids get sick or something as it is just me and the kids, and my parents are a could of hours away.
Will keep checking in for awhile just in case, let me know if anything further comes up.

Hey Tanya, how do you study when you're on your own with the kids. Are you studying full time?
It is a struggle and I pretty much have them full time except for a couple of days in the holidays and only one in school at this stage - I am doing three units this semester and it is a real struggle but I need to get through this a little fast than I am. I have no life.

Still haven't started recording yet but i have worked out how to do it and I do have a mac so it really is easy. Having printer issues so have almost finished writing out the transcript by hand to be able to record. I'm thinking for the introduction I was just going to just say "This is group 27's presentation. We have decided to focus on obesity, specifically nutrition in relation to Penrith South Public School." For the second page I was just going to use the first sentence from the 2rd slides' transcript which briefly explains the schools locality. Hope this suffices. Anyways just wanted to let you know that if any other changes need to be made you can move the deadline back to probably 10pm cos I have to stop for some dinner and finish writing out this transcript. Have done a few read-through practices so I'm hoping it all goes smoothly when I start recording and will only have to do it once. If this is the case I will submit it tonight. What you have for slide 1 and 2 sound good. It's better than having audio starting from slide 3. Save it on the files and folder page here on wiki, that way we can quickly check for effects etc that may need to be done before submitting on to library. We need time to be able to work out the effects after audio is done.
I received an email from Annette tonight and she is blown away with the quality of our work. She said she 'had a quick look and WOW looks impressive'. She said she 'didn't read detail critically but first impressions were - WOW'. So this sounds great, lets hope our info is what she wants and we all receive great marks.
Tanya, I'm glad you said there were others in the library, will check it out. I don't know how you keep up. I have three young boys, Brodie is 7yrs, Rhyley is 3yrs and Brock is 9 months. My hubby is a help but the boys are feeling it with the time I've had to commit to uni with all these assessments. Brock is teething too so he's been having a hard time at the moment. I've taken on 4 units cause I just need to get it over and done with. It seems to be getting harder so I figure leading a crazy life for another 2yrs will see me get out quicker then studying part time. How many units have you completed so far? Whats the other unit you;re doing?
This is my third year studying doing 2 year plus some this third year one and a 4 year in 3rd semester. My thoughts are the same as yours get through quicker. I started doing one unit a semester then 2 units a semester and now three. I get very stress when assessments are due and want to give up, never sure if what I am doing is right and always second guessing myself. I guess just lacking confidence in my abilities. Hoping next year will be easier with 2 in school and the youngest I will put into preschool 2 days a week so I have more time my boys are 9, 5 and 3. The 3 year old had cardiac surgery at the end of May so it has been a big year already. but he is all good now just needs to be monitored once a year. Hard to keep up with the work load when you never get any peace and get a few hours at one time to get your head around things. This semester I am doing EDEE 212 and EDCX 246. What elective subjects are you doing someone said I should do Religion as it helps to get into private schools and catholic ones but other people have told me it wont make a difference. Where are up to. Back to the task at hand. The one I watched looked good and I am sure we are on the right track.

Just watched the presentations in the library. They both seem good. I hope our transcript on the nutritional iniatitives are suffice for what Annette is after. We have so much info about context analysis and outcomes etc. It may be worth looking at them Melina and get a feel for what is needed.
Hey Tanya.....Isn't it funny, we have three boys each and the same age apart (although your boys are 2yrs older than mine). I also second guess myself with assessments. I also spend way too long contemplating things when I should just get it down and submit. I seem to get my best marks when I get it done and not procrastinate over every small thing. Don't give up - you've gone too far. I get the same feeling, especially when things get hard with the boys - sleepless nights and when they're sick. In the long run, they'll benefit so for now we just need to keep focused on the outcome. I'm also doing EDCX246. I got an extension cause of my crazy workload with the other units. I'm also doing EDME369 and EDLT217. Have you finished the assessment for EDCX246? I have to start mine soon. Have barely looked at the unit. So much to catch up on. Maybe we could stay in contact and that way we might be able to help each other now and then. I've chosen Psychology Electives and was thinking English ones for the other 4 but I'm not good with those units. Im worried about psychology being hard but its the only courses being offered in summer trimester. I just thought they may look good on paper. Religion would probably bore me but do anythin that helps us get a job at the end of it. This is my third year studying too. I'll have completed 16 units after this trimester. Half way there!!!!
I hate religion too so haven't done any elective ones yet. Psychology was one I was thinking about but thinking an easier one might be the go. A teacher friend of mine said they don't even look at what you have done or your grade as long as you have the piece of paper it doesn't matter. Yes I submitted EDCX 246 and did the stupid self assessment. Just got EDEE 212 due on Friday. Isn't not going to well for all the hours I have spent on it I hate M S V analysis need to find another 100 words or pull it apart and try again tomorrow and restructure it and see what happens. If there were any changes that wanted to be made it would also require me to re-record the audio as it has all be captured in 1 movie file. let me know if you are happy for me to just submit it or if you would like to work out another way for everyone to view it before hand. Hey Tanya, I'm tossing up psychology as I just don't have it in me to do a difficult unit especially after this trimester, but it'll be another 2 units I can count of the list. I figure only doing the two over summer will allow me to focus on them a bit more. I'm also hoping they relate to each other so it'll make it easier. They are the basic course in psychology so hopefully it'll be okay. Do them with me if you want and that way we can get each other through them. How'd you find the assessment for EDCX246. I haven't looked at it and hoping its straight forward. With the MSV one due Friday, is it on one child or on a few? I made a list up which use to help me. I'll try to find it, can't remember if I kept it or chucked it out but if I have it I can forward it to you. I found it easier to see what was wrong and right with the kids reading by ticking the list off. I'll kick myself if I don't have it cause it would come in handy later on when I teach. Jess or Georgie are doing the same unit. It may help them too. Diane gave us an example which was good - it was on The Hermit Crab. Have you got this. I can email it to you if you want. We had to find the weaknesses - the strengths and then where to go next with the child's reading. Is that similiar to what you're doing?
Hi Tammy got the hermit the crab one. The 1000words is for just one dads bathtime we have done some practice ones aready so I have an idea what is expected, just not easy and double guessing my response does not help. I am finally at 1000words, not sure how good it is but it should pass hopefully and am going to submit it soon very over it. I am doing a 4th year subject 3rd semester special ed I think and have to do the band 4 maths and English as well as they wont recognize my HSC results apparently too old. So am very cranky about it, especially having to do two extra subjects. was thinking of doing the PE ones for elective - nutrition etc but after this subject I am thinking maybe not.
EDCX wasn't too hard though took me some time to work out how to write it. I did Cinderella and explained how much of a bad influence she is on our children blah, blah ,blah, not that I really meant to go that why it was just were the references took me. Interviewed my mother about school and job and again went along the lines of poor women never get a fair go though has improved, rather funny not really that much of a feminist but that is where it went. Not so sure of the self assessment I think I should have told him I deserved a HD, should have started at the top.

Glad your done. Nothing better than that feeling of relief. I had to do the band 4 maths and english too. Was upset cause I finished my HSC too but they wouldnt accept cause it has been just over 10 years. Found the units okay. Maths was easy.... it was just self paced and we had to complete a heap of quizzes (about 30 I think). But, you got to do them as many times as you wanted so you could keep improving your marks. Funny this was, was you did the quiz 4 times - some of the same questions would come up so I was about to remember answers that way. The quizzes aren't long at all, just alot of them. It's easy. Then the test at the end of the trimester, our Lecturer said to study the last exam and gave us some formulas we needed to remember and the test was based from that. It was so similiar to the last year test that I ended up getting 99% for the units overall mark. Made me laugh as I have never gotten a mark like that before but redoing the quizzes can get you 50/50 and then the test is worth 50. So you're guaranteed to pass basically - if not get HIGH marks. English was okay too. Was easier than what you're doing now so you'll cope fine. Gotta start EDCX - will let you know how I go.

Have you girls started on the learning activity as I read a great paper on nutrition for one of my other assessments and we may be able to incorporate it somehow (without plagiarising). Just a thought so if it's already completed then ignore me... Georgie and Jess, thank you so much for taking on the policies. I will look now for some teaching resources on the topic of nutrition. I'll stay up for another hour and try to get something down tonight. Would you believe I've been working my bum off for EDME369 which the assessment was due tonight and at 4pm this arvo our Lecturer has posted that everyone has a one week extension.... Well of course I didn't see it till 10pm so my assessment is completed. I'm annoyed cause I've worked hard on it all week but could have prioritised this one before it if I knew she was going to give extensions willy nilly. So frustrating when mine is ready to submit. Wish I knew earlier!

The powerpoint presentation looks great. I just made a few changes myself with getting the orange colour the same and prettying up one of the graphs. I have added a little info on the resources page and also the evaluation page. Will put more thought into it when I get some sleep. Will touch base in the morning. Will save this as Updated Powerpoint Presentation 6/8/2012. I'll delete all the other copies so there is no confusion. The websites on the presentation are coming up white - thinking these should be a darker colour so we can see them. I tried changing but it didn't work for me. If I can help with the Policy section, please let me know.

Hi Tanya, I started freaking out thinking I'd done something wrong. I could open it on my end on my work computer so I have resaved and have attached again. I didn't do anything different from any other time so wondering why this happened. Sorry for the trouble. Sorry it's taken a bit to reply. Georgie's internet is currently playing up. We are going to work on the procedure slide a bit more today and we need to complete the program. Then we are done.
The only other things that will be left to do are the:
- resources page - COMPLETED - presentation just needs update with websites above
- referencing list
- evaluation
- transcript and audio.
I have not heard from Melina in a while. I'm hoping that she comes back online soon as we could really use the extra help at the moment. There are lots of things on this week, so maybe she could complete the audio?

Georgie how is EDEE 212 coming along I am finding it hard with the cues and trying to expand it enough to get close to the 1000words.
I tried to have a look at the audio to see how it is done, on the mac I think it was as easy as hitting record, cant find it on windows, I think the only way I can do it is to record it elsewhere and import it into the ppt. But if Melina could do it, it would be great. and I will keep working with Tammy finishing off the rest. If not will try again tomorrow with the audio or tonight if we don't hear from her soon.
Great idea with the vege garden. I know the school definitely don't have one. It's an activity that can be incorporated into all Years K-6. The audio is easy with powerpoint as you just record on the mac through powerpoint. Problem was that it recorded fantastic but made the file far too large to save. Will email Melina now and see if she can touch base so we can organise audio. Tanya, I'll keep thinking of ideas too for the evaluation... Regarding Melina, I sent an email to Annette, not to cause issues but to try and get into contact with her. She has also sent an email away.
I think that maybe we should try cutting down the resources. I am just worried that there are too many.. I have seen some other groups and they have tended to focus on one or two. I also believe that Annette stated we should attempt to do less if possible.
Here's a quick summary of what they talked about in the lecture today for the evaluation. You basically just list some of the barriers/limitations. And in the audio you can pose some questions. Just use bullet points for the powerpoint slide.
Have done absolutely nothing as far as the question sets are concerned! Opps.

I'm just going to add the resources into the presentation, will pick the more important ones and quickly re-do the websites in references. I just looked at the instructions about the resources and it says to concentrate on one in the audio. I think we can list a few on the presentation though. Resources and References will be completed unless there is a quick last minute reference that needs to be thrown in. I'll try to work the transcript out for the resources section now. We need to work on the transcripts for the other slides though. I'm not 100% with the 4P. Jess, do you think you and Georgie may be able to throw something together with the transcripts as you guys have a much better idea on what it all means. If this is too much work, please let me know. Tanya and I can try to put the transcript together for the school policy - is this something that is just briefly touched on in the transcript or do we just read from what the policy states. A little confused. Can you clarify Jess or Georgie if you know any details from the Lectures in regards to the transcript for the 4Ps. The tutti fruity lesson activity won't load for some reason but I think the vege garden is a great idea. I know Penrith South definitely don't have one.

This is the latest on Annette's conversation regarding Melina. I have replied saying that I will consult with the rest of the group. The problem is that it doesn't really make a difference to us at the moment. We are still going to have to pump this assignment out together regardless. I don't want to be the horrible one that is causing problems, it's just that two weeks without contact when there is a major assignment due isn't exactly fair. Let me know what you think.
Based on this string of emails, I believe that I need to un-enrol Melina
from your group. I do not believe that reading someone else's carefully
constructed commentary constitutes a contribution to this assignment.

Hi Jess,
It's so disappointing that Melina hasn't contributed much to the assessment. I understand she is on prac from 20th July (from previous posts) so she is probably quite busy. Problem is for all of us, is that our lives are chaos as well with other uni committments, work, children, husbands etc and we seem to manage to put our fair share into the workload (if another person tells me I look tired, I'm going to scream). The thing is, we all take on uni knowing the busy schedule it will have on our lives and part of being a great teacher is to balance everything all at once. I don't want to be responsible for Melina being un-enrolled from our group but you're right Jess, it's been two weeks since contact and prior to that we only received 1 message each week apart from the focus area. I'm hoping she touches base tonight or tomorrow and we can ask her to contribute more to Part B like Annette has requested. I'd be interested in hearing what others feel. Group work can be such a hard activity and in other units that group work has been involved, it has never been equal sharing of the workload. Melina seemed keen in the beginning of this assessment, I'm surprised she hasn't made contact with only two days till submit time.

The last transcripts that I wrote were really long in the last powerpoint and the audio is only meant to 12-15 minutes so these transcripts I have done are not very long at all, hopefully it will even out! Plus there isn't really much to say about them! Jess is coming to my room in a few minutes so hopefully we can nut out the rest!

When I recorded my voice on the context slide it ended up about 2-3 minutes. We'll probably have to play around with it when it's being recorded to ensure we're in the minutes needed. It'll take a bit of time to get the effects in the right place.Tanya, I didn't put all our resources in after Jess wrote about the lecture details where it needed to be more specific. I just stuck to the main ones. Just delete one of the double ups. Hey Jess, what will happen if Melina ends up being un-enrolled from our group. Do we still need to critique two presentations. Do you have a mac computer as well tammy? I couldn't find the audio record on the powerpoint and I only just found the notes the other day, mac looks a lot easier than windows.
For the audio I decided to write up about the halthy kids one for info and trying to find another that has good teaching resources and ideas. but keeping it short and to the point. Tammy that would be awesome if we only had to do two, make the work load a lot less.

Hi Girls, I just opened the powerpoint presentation and the outcomes page opened along with syllabus info etc. I won't need the presentation tonight and will stay off it tomorrow morning too so you guys can upload the info... Thanks again for working on this. Tanya, thanks for sorting out the transcript for the resource page too. Melina, it takes more than just touching base with a small note to be a group member. We have worked so hard on this presentation with a million other better things that we could be doing. I'm sorry to be direct but I am struggling to keep on top of everything myself, especially having a young family of three boys and working but I have in no form let our team down. It's probably advisable to arrange your pracs at a more suitable time where you are able to contribute to assessments when necessary. I have done this myself so my pracs did not run into the most crucial time of assessments. This presentation is worth 30% of our overall mark and your contribution would have come in very handy for Jess, Georgie, Tanya and myself to have a little more time for our other assessments. We have definitely carried you in this assessment, to date. The audio will need to be added to the presentation. This will have to be done by tomorrow afternoon so we have time to coordinate the effects etc in the slides to match the audio. Just to add to this, Melina we really need to hear back from you regarding your decision as to whether or not you will be contributing further. We need to know for ourselves and also because I need to email Annette back regarding your contribution.
You will need you to complete the audio. However, in previous emails Annette has stated that simply reading out the work that we have done isn't sufficient. She has listed about what will be necessary for you to complete for the next section.
I'm sorry if I am coming off as sounding rude, but the last contact we had from you was two weeks ago when you stated that you had a lot of free time. As Tammy said we all have very busy and different lives, but this is a unit that everyone has to contribute to otherwise you will be removed from it.

I will contact Melina now by email to let her know that she is expected to add the audio and carry a high workload for Part B. Further I will give her specific instructions on how she MUST access the PPT and the date and time the work must be completed (I.e. Friday Aug 10 midday)
To be sure that we honour the work contributed by all other members, could I please ask that a member of the group submit your PPT presentation to the PRESENTATION LIBRARY as soon as possible. Be sure to follow all instructions provided to put it in the library. I appreciate that the presentation will not include the audio but it will provide documentary evidence of the date and time when the group submitted their contributions and Melina had access to the PPT to do and complete the audio. This will protect everyone concerned as long as you give her as many hours as possible to complete her role.
I will watch for the submission in the PRESENTATION LIBRARY.

I have just uploaded the latest version with the evaluation. Please take a look, see if anything needs adding or if you find anything that is missing or needs fixing. Tanya, I'm at work and had a spare minute so thought I'd put some info down on the evaluation. This will save us doing it with our little kiddies around who are desperate for our attention....lol.... See if you want to add any other points or happy with whats there. I'm thinking the presentation is completed apart from the audio. Do you think the audio is sufficient for the nutritional initiatives section? We seem to have so much audio in the beginning about the health priority area. I'm sure it will all work out okay, hard when you can't hear the presentation to go with the info we have. If we put in the library today, can we readjust it if Melina doesn't do the audio? Worried we'll loose marks if the audio isn't completed. I'm thinking Annette should be aware that Melina has access on the wiki page to our presentation also. Who's happy to add it into the library?

Hi Tammy looking good. Just moved the section under audio into the notes and tidied up the page my brain is fried and cant come up with any more for the evaluation, but will keep thinking on it. I am thinking the audio under the 3rd slide can be read through the first 3 as they all relate to it, may help spread it out a little. Should we sit on it for a few hours, not sure if we should wait for Jess and georgie before we stick it in the presentation folder. or give it till 2pm and chuck it in.

OK just read the discussion board, I think we need to do the audio before it is submitted, If we haven't heard from Melina by tonight, I will look at it so we can submit it tomorrow morning. Fantastic, so happy to have another huge assessment done. I have been so busy as they all fell within 2 weeks of each other. I have my EDLT217 due this Fri and just seeked an extension as I just don't have it in me to complete in two days. Been a very crazy few weeks. I'm a bit confused cause Annette has asked us to submit without the audio for Melina to record the audio but Melina is able to access this from wiki. We probably should submit it, like Annette has asked.
The English unit your doing I completed last year. We had 6 children that we had to assess in reading recovery by listening to them read. Recording the omitted words, repeats etc then writing a summary of what the problems are and how to help them. I found the whole thing confusing but spent some time at my sons school with the reading recovery teacher and learned more from her than the unit itself. It helped me through the assessments.
Just read Melinas email. The presentation is as good as complete apart from the audio. Her contact last night was not to help us as she didn't return to wiki. Soooo frustrating. When is she planning to help us considering there is less than two days till we submit.
Tammy, I couldn't agree with you more on your last point. I will email Annette back saying we are more than happy for her to be a group member but state that she has not replied and make sure she understands that she has complete access to the wiki site!
Also, we have seen some other power points and ours is looking good in comparison. THey are all different as everyone has a different topic etc. But i think we are on the right track!

Slide 5 is not working, it looks like the same problem as what happened last night. Also, with that slide. Could someone pretty please un highlight the energy output text box. It is not meant to be highlighted as the focus is meant to be on how nutrition directly relates to health and obesity. Not physical activity.
I think we may need to pretty up the evaluation slide.
Other than that.. all looks wonderful!

Just had a look at the slide, looking great! The same problem has happened last time with slide 5 areas that lead to children weights problems and it wont open? Not sure who is able to fix that?
Also just with the evaluation slide, from what I got from the lecture I think its the limitations that will stop you reaching your aim. So for the bit about the media promoting nutirtious foods, should it say promoting junk foods? I'm also a little confused with this sentence in the evaluation

Have to pick up a child from pre school and 2 of them have after school sport training. I can hardly stay awake but will be back on line tonight so will fix up that slide. and if Melina hasn't turned up will look at the audio, I think we need to put in despite what Annette has said.
Anyone got a spare 200 words need it for my miscue analysis. We have done 3 already but only 75 to 100 words so from having trouble shortening it now
I am having problems getting to go the length of 1000 words. but getting there hoping to have them both submitted so I can sleep on Friday, or not with the kids. oh well/

I've just fixed up those things mentioned by Jess and Georgie. I've redone the evaluation slide to be a flow chart. Think it looks better now. I think it's tiredness setting in for me too. Have deleted all other presentations but the latest.

Hi back home, just trying to cook dinner, bath kids and homework. so I will try to check in to see if I can do anything. Melina It took me along time before I stumbled onto them as well.
The slide and reading I believe needs to be about 12 to 15 minutes. I was thinking the first notes would incorporate the first three slides as the beginning of it talks about the demographics so would fit in with the pic of school and the first slide. I think it will go close to 15mins so we cant add to much more audio than what we have.
Oh just had a thought, I haven't had a chance to fix the evaluation slide - that is the sentence and tidy up. Also had been thinking more about the resources, There is a better website to talk about as it has a section on parent and school partnership for nutrition which would tie in better with the other slides. Can I change it or not now that it is in the presentation folder.

although you have submitted the audio less copy onto moodle if you need to make some changes do so and just add the latest version onto the wiki and i'll record the audio into that so the changes will be on the final copy submitted. If you could have that done by 9pm tonight that would be brilliant. I've had a read through of the transcript timing myself and it came to about 13 1/2 minutes. I will probably talk a little slower for the real thing but there is some room to add something in audio wise if you would like. Keep me posted. Ta, Melina

I think a small introduction would be nice for slide 1 and maybe something brief for slide 2. Great timing with the 13.5 minutes. It would be great if the presentation audio is done tonight and we can all submit in the morning - one less assessment to worry about. If you have a mac, it was fairly easy to record. I think the discussions had some advice on audio too but will keep online tonight and touch base later on.

Just went in to fix it up and it already looks great, love the set up of it.
On the resource one I changed one of the website that was going into the audio to another one as it hsd information about parent and school partnership thought it would tie in better. I have written very little on it just a brief mention of two websites. Was worried that we were going to go over the time by a long way.
Fingers crossed we are done except for audio, I am exhausted need some sleep and need to finalise my other assignment. Don't like waiting to the last minute in case the kids get sick or something as it is just me and the kids, and my parents are a could of hours away.
Will keep checking in for awhile just in case, let me know if anything further comes up.

Hey Tanya, how do you study when you're on your own with the kids. Are you studying full time?
It is a struggle and I pretty much have them full time except for a couple of days in the holidays and only one in school at this stage - I am doing three units this semester and it is a real struggle but I need to get through this a little fast than I am. I have no life.

Still haven't started recording yet but i have worked out how to do it and I do have a mac so it really is easy. Having printer issues so have almost finished writing out the transcript by hand to be able to record. I'm thinking for the introduction I was just going to just say
"This is group 27's presentation. We have decided to focus on obesity, specifically nutrition in relation to Penrith South Public School."
For the second page I was just going to use the first sentence from the 2rd slides' transcript which briefly explains the schools locality. Hope this suffices.
Anyways just wanted to let you know that if any other changes need to be made you can move the deadline back to probably 10pm cos I have to stop for some dinner and finish writing out this transcript. Have done a few read-through practices so I'm hoping it all goes smoothly when I start recording and will only have to do it once. If this is the case I will submit it tonight. What you have for slide 1 and 2 sound good. It's better than having audio starting from slide 3. Save it on the files and folder page here on wiki, that way we can quickly check for effects etc that may need to be done before submitting on to library. We need time to be able to work out the effects after audio is done.
I received an email from Annette tonight and she is blown away with the quality of our work. She said she 'had a quick look and WOW looks impressive'. She said she 'didn't read detail critically but first impressions were - WOW'. So this sounds great, lets hope our info is what she wants and we all receive great marks.
Tanya, I'm glad you said there were others in the library, will check it out. I don't know how you keep up. I have three young boys, Brodie is 7yrs, Rhyley is 3yrs and Brock is 9 months. My hubby is a help but the boys are feeling it with the time I've had to commit to uni with all these assessments. Brock is teething too so he's been having a hard time at the moment. I've taken on 4 units cause I just need to get it over and done with. It seems to be getting harder so I figure leading a crazy life for another 2yrs will see me get out quicker then studying part time. How many units have you completed so far? Whats the other unit you;re doing?
This is my third year studying doing 2 year plus some this third year one and a 4 year in 3rd semester. My thoughts are the same as yours get through quicker. I started doing one unit a semester then 2 units a semester and now three. I get very stress when assessments are due and want to give up, never sure if what I am doing is right and always second guessing myself. I guess just lacking confidence in my abilities. Hoping next year will be easier with 2 in school and the youngest I will put into preschool 2 days a week so I have more time my boys are 9, 5 and 3. The 3 year old had cardiac surgery at the end of May so it has been a big year already. but he is all good now just needs to be monitored once a year. Hard to keep up with the work load when you never get any peace and get a few hours at one time to get your head around things. This semester I am doing EDEE 212 and EDCX 246. What elective subjects are you doing someone said I should do Religion as it helps to get into private schools and catholic ones but other people have told me it wont make a difference. Where are up to.
Back to the task at hand. The one I watched looked good and I am sure we are on the right track.
Sorry all but the late nights are catching up and im going to bed. Will check in in the morning after I got harry on the bus. Can't believe the Olympics are on and I have hardly seen any of it. Since my assignment hasnt grown enough yet.

Just watched the presentations in the library. They both seem good. I hope our transcript on the nutritional iniatitives are suffice for what Annette is after. We have so much info about context analysis and outcomes etc. It may be worth looking at them Melina and get a feel for what is needed.
Hey Tanya.....Isn't it funny, we have three boys each and the same age apart (although your boys are 2yrs older than mine). I also second guess myself with assessments. I also spend way too long contemplating things when I should just get it down and submit. I seem to get my best marks when I get it done and not procrastinate over every small thing. Don't give up - you've gone too far. I get the same feeling, especially when things get hard with the boys - sleepless nights and when they're sick. In the long run, they'll benefit so for now we just need to keep focused on the outcome. I'm also doing EDCX246. I got an extension cause of my crazy workload with the other units. I'm also doing EDME369 and EDLT217. Have you finished the assessment for EDCX246? I have to start mine soon. Have barely looked at the unit. So much to catch up on. Maybe we could stay in contact and that way we might be able to help each other now and then. I've chosen Psychology Electives and was thinking English ones for the other 4 but I'm not good with those units. Im worried about psychology being hard but its the only courses being offered in summer trimester. I just thought they may look good on paper. Religion would probably bore me but do anythin that helps us get a job at the end of it. This is my third year studying too. I'll have completed 16 units after this trimester. Half way there!!!!
I hate religion too so haven't done any elective ones yet. Psychology was one I was thinking about but thinking an easier one might be the go. A teacher friend of mine said they don't even look at what you have done or your grade as long as you have the piece of paper it doesn't matter. Yes I submitted EDCX 246 and did the stupid self assessment. Just got EDEE 212 due on Friday. Isn't not going to well for all the hours I have spent on it I hate M S V analysis need to find another 100 words or pull it apart and try again tomorrow and restructure it and see what happens.
Would love to keep in contact it would be nice to have some one to converse with, you feel so isolated doing it externally.

Hi group, I've finally done the recording. I have tried to upload it onto the wiki but it is just WAY too big. If there were any changes that wanted to be made it would also require me to re-record the audio as it has all be captured in 1 movie file. let me know if you are happy for me to just submit it or if you would like to work out another way for everyone to view it before hand. I'm about to sign off for the night cos I have to be at school in less then 8 hours time. Hey Tanya, I'm tossing up psychology as I just don't have it in me to do a difficult unit especially after this trimester, but it'll be another 2 units I can count of the list. I figure only doing the two over summer will allow me to focus on them a bit more. I'm also hoping they relate to each other so it'll make it easier. They are the basic course in psychology so hopefully it'll be okay. Do them with me if you want and that way we can get each other through them. How'd you find the assessment for EDCX246. I haven't looked at it and hoping its straight forward. With the MSV one due Friday, is it on one child or on a few? I made a list up which use to help me. I'll try to find it, can't remember if I kept it or chucked it out but if I have it I can forward it to you. I found it easier to see what was wrong and right with the kids reading by ticking the list off. I'll kick myself if I don't have it cause it would come in handy later on when I teach. Jess or Georgie are doing the same unit. It may help them too. Diane gave us an example which was good - it was on The Hermit Crab. Have you got this. I can email it to you if you want. We had to find the weaknesses - the strengths and then where to go next with the child's reading. Is that similiar to what you're doing?
Hi Tammy got the hermit the crab one. The 1000words is for just one dads bathtime we have done some practice ones aready so I have an idea what is expected, just not easy and double guessing my response does not help. I am finally at 1000words, not sure how good it is but it should pass hopefully and am going to submit it soon very over it. I am doing a 4th year subject 3rd semester special ed I think and have to do the band 4 maths and English as well as they wont recognize my HSC results apparently too old. So am very cranky about it, especially having to do two extra subjects. was thinking of doing the PE ones for elective - nutrition etc but after this subject I am thinking maybe not.
EDCX wasn't too hard though took me some time to work out how to write it. I did Cinderella and explained how much of a bad influence she is on our children blah, blah ,blah, not that I really meant to go that why it was just were the references took me. Interviewed my mother about school and job and again went along the lines of poor women never get a fair go though has improved, rather funny not really that much of a feminist but that is where it went. Not so sure of the self assessment I think I should have told him I deserved a HD, should have started at the top.

Glad your done. Nothing better than that feeling of relief. I had to do the band 4 maths and english too. Was upset cause I finished my HSC too but they wouldnt accept cause it has been just over 10 years. Found the units okay. Maths was easy.... it was just self paced and we had to complete a heap of quizzes (about 30 I think). But, you got to do them as many times as you wanted so you could keep improving your marks. Funny this was, was you did the quiz 4 times - some of the same questions would come up so I was about to remember answers that way. The quizzes aren't long at all, just alot of them. It's easy. Then the test at the end of the trimester, our Lecturer said to study the last exam and gave us some formulas we needed to remember and the test was based from that. It was so similiar to the last year test that I ended up getting 99% for the units overall mark. Made me laugh as I have never gotten a mark like that before but redoing the quizzes can get you 50/50 and then the test is worth 50. So you're guaranteed to pass basically - if not get HIGH marks. English was okay too. Was easier than what you're doing now so you'll cope fine. Gotta start EDCX - will let you know how I go.
